How to Measure Clutch Bearing – The Correct Way to Ensure Fitment

Posted by  ckkam | 16/07/2025

When it comes to replacing a clutch bearing, using the correct size is crucial—especially when dealing with different brands. Even if the vehicle use is the same, design and packaging may vary. So how do you make sure the clutch bearing measurements is truly suitable for your vehicle?

The answer lies in 3 key measurements:

  1. Inner Diameter (ID) – This determines the shaft size the bearing fits onto.

  2. Clutch Fork Contact Width – This measures the area where the fork applies pressure. A mismatch here can lead to improper clutch release.

  3. Height (Base to Fork Contact Point) – A critical measurement that affects clutch travel and engagement. Too short or too tall can cause serious functional issues.

? As shown in the image, part number 68TKB3803 is one of the common clutch bearings for Hino Dutro truck. When measuring, always refer to your original bearing to compare.

❌ Common mistake: Many people measure the total height including the housing, which may lead to selecting the wrong bearing. As there are some brands having bigger housing on top but it can still be perfectly used. What matters is the height from the base to the clutch fork contact point.

Whether you’re replacing with SKF, Koyo, NSK, NTN or another brand, use these measurements to ensure you’re choosing the correct clutch bearing—not just by part number, but by fitment.
